Hey, so I’m still a newbie at the whole automation thing. I had a question to all the RPA users that how do you actually figure out that if a process is worth automating, not automating it because it’s repetitive. There might be some a=other reasons as well right? Would love to hear your thoughts!!

There are a number of factors to consider.
However, the two most important questions to ask according to me are –

    1. Expected Exceptions- What is the degree of variation in the process? If there is too much variation then creating automation would not do much good as there would be a ton of exceptions to deal with.

    2. Complexity – How complicated is the process? A simple process can be automated easily within a week’s time. However, extremely complex ones take months. We need to think about whether it’s feasible to automate the process.

There is a fad of automating almost anything recently. But we also shouldn’t forget that automating isn’t free. If the cost of automation & maintenance exceeds the cost of doing it as it is, then one should stick with the regular in my opinion. Would love to hear your thoughts, too.
